Composite material based on pullulan/silane/ZnO-NPs as pH, thermo-sensitive and antibacterial agent for cellulosic fabrics

Abstract


Polymer network containing a mixture of two polymeric systems a) carboxymethyl pullulan (CMP) and b) poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm) were synthesized. A chemical cross-linking between NIPAAm, CMP, and polysaccharide have been occurred. An antimicrobial gel containing pullulan and silane based cross linker have been synthesized. The prepared composite were characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy, swelling measurements and responsibility to both temperature and pH changes. Moreover, The ZnO nanoparticles were added to the hydrogel network in order to investigate the antibacterial activity of synthesised polymer. Characterizations of prepared composite/ZnO were carried out using (FT-IR) and transmission electron (TEM). Incorporation of prepared composite/ZnO to cellulosic material was done using pad dry-cure method using a cross-linking agent. Stimuli responsiveness properties of cellulosic materials has been confirmed by measuring the effect of pH and temperature on the water uptake.
